AltConf is back for 2016

Summary
The alternative developer conference is preparing another great event for the 6th year in a row.

The planning wheels are turning at AltConf HQ and the international group of volunteers is preparing another great event for the 6th year in a row. AltConf is an annual event held in downtown San Francisco at the same time as Apple’s WWDC. The ‘alternative development conference’ offers a gathering place with inspiring talks for everyone in the Apple community, for free. Every Apple fan is awaiting with eager ears for WWDC dates to be announced. In the meantime, the AltConf team is securing a great location, actively seeking speakers, and welcoming sponsors to contribute to this community endeavor.

For 2016, AltConf will be a 2-track conference, running from Monday to Thursday. Monday will hopefully include live streaming of Apple’s Keynote and SOTU with breakfast provided, followed by a panel discussion with familiar voices from the Apple blogging and podcasting community. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday offer attendees a chance to learn from experts in the field with subjects they don’t cover at WWDC such as indie life, marketing your app, and how to make the industry more inclusive. Past speakers have included Jay Freeman, Aaron Hillegass, Natasha Murashev, Wil Shipley, Brianna Wu, and Jean MacDonald. You can view the wide range of talks from 2015 and 2014.

Would you like to be a part of AltConf? There are various ways to contribute. To become a sponsor, email sponsors@altconf.com. If you’d like to submit a talk, there’s a Call for Speakers here. To encourage a diverse speaker lineup, all papers will be anonymized by removing any identifying information before being screened by a panel of four members from the iOS/Mac community. Multiple submissions are welcome. The CfS will be open until April 26, midnight PDT. The selection of speakers will be announced by early May.
